10 Things to Do in Dubai on a $1000 Budget

$1,000 covers a genuinely full Dubai trip if you're smart about it, roughly 5-7 days of activities, food, and transport, without touching your flight or hotel budget. Here's exactly where that money goes.
Dubai has a reputation for being an expensive city, and parts of it are. But the AED to USD rate sits around 3.67 to 1, and most of the big attractions are priced closer to a theme park ticket than a luxury splurge. Below is a real breakdown, using 2026 ticket prices, of ten things you can do with $1000 (about AED 3,670) while you're staying in Dubai Marina.

1. Burj Khalifa, At the Top (AED 179 / ~$49)
This is the one everyone puts on their list, and it earns the spot. The Level 124 and 125 observation decks put you above most of the skyline, and if you book online in advance rather than walking up, you'll pay less and skip a chunk of the queue. Go around an hour before sunset if you want both daylight and night views in one visit.
Running total: $49
2. Museum of the Future (AED 159 / ~$43)
It's five minutes from the Burj Khalifa area, so most people pair the two in one day. The building itself, that torus-shaped structure wrapped in Arabic calligraphy, is worth the visit before you even get inside. Budget two to three hours if you want to see all the floors properly.
Running total: $92
3. Desert Safari with Dinner (AED 250 / ~$68)
Dune bashing in a 4x4, a camel ride, sandboarding, and a BBQ dinner with live entertainment under the stars. This is usually a half-day tour that picks you up from your accommodation, so no need to arrange transport separately. Evening safaris are the most popular booking, and for good reason: the desert at sunset is a different experience entirely from the desert at noon.
Running total: $160
4. Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo (AED 175 / ~$48)
Located inside Dubai Mall, so easy to fold into a mall day. You're looking at one of the largest suspended aquariums in the world, viewable from inside the mall for free, but the paid entry gets you the tunnel walkthrough and the underwater zoo section with the zoo's larger predators.
Running total: $208
5. Dubai Frame (AED 60 / ~$16)
A genuinely underrated stop. It's a 150-meter picture frame straddling old and new Dubai, and the glass floor deck gives you a view over Zabeel Park on one side and the Downtown skyline on the other. It's one of the cheapest major attractions in the city and rarely gets the queues that Burj Khalifa does.
Running total: $224
6. Dhow Dinner Cruise on the Marina (from AED 150 / ~$41)
Since you're staying in Dubai Marina, this one's right on your doorstep. A traditional wooden dhow cruises the Marina canal for about two hours while you eat a buffet dinner and watch the skyscrapers light up from the water. It's a slower, calmer evening than the desert safari, and a good one to plan for your first or last night.
Running total: $265
7. Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark (AED 320 / ~$87)
If you're traveling with family or just want a full day of slides and a private beach, this is the splurge item on the list. It includes access to the Lost Chambers Aquarium as well. Go on a weekday if you can. Weekends bring in the local crowd and the lines get long.
Running total: $352
8. Ski Dubai (from AED 230 / ~$63)
Yes, there's a working indoor ski slope inside Mall of the Emirates, snow included, in a city where it hits 45°C outside. The base package gets you slope access, gear rental, and a couple of hours on real snow. It's one of those things that sounds like a gimmick until you're standing in it.
Running total: $415
9. Global Village (entry from AED 25 / ~$7, seasonal)
Only open roughly November through April, so check the season before you plan around it. It's a cultural theme park with pavilions from around 90 countries, food stalls, rides, and nightly shows. Entry is cheap; the spending happens on food and shopping once you're inside, so budget accordingly.
Running total: $422
10. Food, Taxis, and Everyday Spending
That leaves roughly $578 of your $1000 for meals, metro or taxi rides, souvenirs, and the odd coffee with a Marina view. For a 5-7 day trip, that's workable: expect AED 30-60 (about $8-16) for a casual restaurant meal, and AED 10-40 (about $3-11) for most taxi rides within the city. Using the metro instead of taxis for longer trips stretches this budget noticeably further.
